…LIGHT FREEZING RAIN POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTH GEORGIA EARLY THURSDAY MORNING…
HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO AREAS OF THIN ICE ARE POSSIBLE EARLY THURSDAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTH GEORGIA.
PATCHY LIGHT RAIN IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO NORTHWEST GEORGIA EARLY THURSDAY MORNING…THEN MOVE ACROSS MOST OF NORTH GEORGIA ON THURSDAY. SURFACE TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL NEAR THE FREEZING MARK TONIGHT BEFORE THE CLOUDS AND RAIN ARRIVE EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. THE LIGHT RAIN COULD FREEZE ON IMPACT IN PORTIONS OF NORTH GEORGIA WHERE THE TEMPERATURES WILL HOVER NEAR FREEZING BETWEEN 2 AM AND 10 AM THURSDAY MORNING.
THE MAIN THREAT AREA IS GENERALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM CEDARTOWN THROUGH CANTON TO CLEVELAND. DUE TO THE LIMITED MOISTURE AND VERY LIGHT RAIN…LITTLE TO NO SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED. HOWEVER…IF FREEZING RAIN DOES DEVELOP…THERE WILL BE NUMEROUS SLICK SPOTS DUE TO THIN ICE ON ROADS…BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES…MAKING THE THURSDAY MORNING COMMUTE VERY HAZARDOUS.
MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO USE EXTREME CAUTION AND SLOW DOWN. THE THIN ICE WILL NOT BE VERY NOTICEABLE UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE.
