We are very excited to have our own message boards for Brookshire. We know alot of you have become used to the Yahoo! Groups Message Boards, and with good reason. They were very simple and easy to use. Our new Message Boards are also very easy to use. Below are some tips on getting the most of the new Message Boards.
Application
Because this is a new message board system, we do require that you register for access to the message boards. Dont worry - registration is quick and simple. All we require is a valid email address, username (see below) and a password. The process takes 10 seconds and couldn't be simpler. Then, your submission awaits (usually) same-day approval - then you are good to go!
User Names
When registering, we require your username to be the first two letters of your first name followed by an underscore and then your last name. One of the problems we had with our last forum is, you could register as "Mickey Mouse" and then post virtually whatever you wanted. On the new boards, when you post a message - your name is tied to your remarks.
So, as an example - if Jennifer Stevenson were to apply for access to the boards, her username would be Je_Stevenson.
Categories/Discussions
Messages on the board are categoriized by Discussions and Categories. Discussions are simply messages or posts your neighbors have posted for all to see. These "discussions" fall into one of three distinct categories..
- General Brookshire Discussion
This is where you would go to discuss anything within the neighborhood. This category is more of a catch-all, and a good place to start. - Brookshire Classifieds
Got something to sell? Need to buy something? Sell it or find it right here! This would be where to post or find out about yard sales, too. - Ask the HOA Board
Do you have a burning question for the HOA Board? This is where you can post questions and a member(s) of the HOA Board will answer them.
When you log in, you can either view Categories, or you can view all recent Discussions in one list - regardless of category. The choice is yours.
Posting on the Board
If you care to start a new discussion, simply click on "Start a new discussion" at the top left corner of any page within the Message Boards. Simply select the appropriate category (of the 3 listed above), give your discussion, and start typing!
Now, if you are viewing a discussion and want to add in your two cents - simply enter your comments in the box at the bottom of the page - cleverly titled "Enter your comments". Once you are done, click the "Add your comments" button!
