The Woodstock Police Department joins forces with thousands of communities
nationwide for the “27th Annual National Night Out” to be held on Tuesday,
August 3, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Woodstock City Park
located at 101 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA 30188.

“National Night Out” is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention
awareness, generate support for and participation in local anticrime
efforts, strengthen police and community partnerships, and to send a message
to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are uniting together to fight
crime.

This event will feature S.W.A.T and K-9 demonstrations, Law Enforcement
Crime Scene Units, dunk tank, rock climbing, roll over simulator, and Navy
Mobile Museums.  Free food will also be available.  Representatives from
local law enforcement, military, and non-profit organizations promoting
safety within the community will all be present to answer any questions.

“27th Annual National Night Out” is sponsored locally by the National
Association of Town Watch and the City of Woodstock Police Department and
also by Target, a national corporate sponsor.

The Woodstock Police Department has upgraded their website at www.WoodstockGA.gov >Departments>Police
Under it you will find all sorts of useful information from E-Requests, to Neighborhood Services
New to the Department is Nixle and Twitter, by signing up for these services you will be notified of any and all pertinent alerts for any areas that you chose. So you can get text alerts from your local home areas as well as work etc. These tools greatly aid in spreading the word for all communication topics with the Police Department. One perfect example would be the flood on 92 where multiple routes were closed, with Nixle any detours are made available via text and website for immediate release to users.

Several important security reminders:
1. Thefts continue to occur in neighborhoods across the city from unlocked cars in driveways. The Police department is asking that you keep all valuables locked in your house, close your garage at night, lock your car doors, and keep inventory on your valuables. Often thefts occur and go unreported so please make sure if you feel that you have been a victim to call 911 and report it. By reporting it you can help the Police get the information they need to prevent these crimes from continuing.

2. A number of groups have been caught engaging in sexual relations, same sex relations, and lude behavior between the trail from Rope Mill Park to our emergency access road (at the first stop sign) Please be on the lookout for any suspicious vehicles, persons, and groups, and report them to the police. The location was actually published on a same sex website as an advertisement to meet and engage in this behavior. The police are actively pursuing this problem and are relying on your help to notify them of any activity.

3. Neighborhood Watch – with the up and coming development, construction, road repairs, detours, and the interchange development, we expect a large increase in traffic throughout the neighborhood. It is imperative to start a neighborhood watch once again. Nothing too complicated, I know we have a large number of active walkers and runners in the neighborhood so anyone can be involved. Crystal Blue took our pools over as of Friday, May 21, 2010. We are pleased to have them able to come on board and take over the management of our pools in such a quick and professional manner.

Locally owned and operated, Crystal Blue manages all of their business in the greater Cherokee County area. We are looking forward to a higher level of service, professionalism from our lifeguards, and great looking, clean and well maintained pools. They come recommended with high praises and references so we are looking forward to having them with us.

They will be enforcing all of the rules, including a reminder, NO SMOKING is allowed inside the pool gates. There are ashtrays outside the pool gates for your to dispose of your butts.

We hope you all enjoy a fun and safe pool season, and help us in welcoming our new crew to the Brookshire Pools.

We launched a forum with the community website just over a year ago and I know some of you registered on that forum.  It was not working out for the community due to lack of features and it was difficult to navigate; this is why we have chosen to provide this new forum.  If you registered for the older one, you will need to register again for this one, which we sincerely apologize for.  This forum is here to stay!  We currently have 137 members registered and that number is growing every day.  It’s a great place to advertise and you will receive, via email, important community updates, event notifications, etc.

The topic is to discuss the introduction of Top Tennis Academy to Brookshire.

We will have a brief introduction period, present all the information, and have a Q&A session.

Please help communicate this to any residents on your team and feel free to invite them to join us.

We hope we can help calm all of the fears and concerns by presenting the facts in this transition and be able to address your concerns.

Cameron will be bringing his academy and participants to our courts full time beginning on April 15th, 2010.

In addition to offering personal lessons, group sessions, and a full time academy, Top Tennis will also be offering a program for our juniors.

We feel that bringing this academy to our neighborhood will help not only be a positive feature to our amenities, but help improve our younger tennis players involvement here in Brookshire. The academy will be run Monday – Sunday on off hours so we still have plenty of court space for our teams and residents that want to reserve courts.

This information as well as plenty more contact info, how to reserve a court, and Q&A will come shortly. We will also be sending out packets to all residents with the upcoming Pool Schedule, Pool Rules, new directory info, new ARC guidelines, and plenty more in the coming weeks.

We look forward to this addition as it will not only improve our visibility in the community having a local pro, generate a revenue stream to help off-set maintenance for our amenities, and build a junior program in our community.
